The Eagles of Boston College hosted the Black Bears of Maine and the bears stole a win by one point in Conte Forum in front of 4,116 fans. the game started off slow because the Eagles had the lead most of the game, then the Black Bears started getting confidence and motivation to win and they took the lead and never gave it up. The Eagles are in the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference), which has teams such as Duke, Wake Forest, Clemson, and Maryland so the win for the Black Bears from the America East was a huge win. The Bears were led by junior Sean Mcnally who had 15 points in 34 minutes of play, and Junior Malachi Peay came off the bench and gave them a big boost of energy by putting up 6 points, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds in 20 minutes of play. The game got very intense when there was 3 minutes left in the game because there were so many lead changes. The crowd made the game even more interesting when they started to get into the game and cheer on the home team and boo for the away team, but the underdogs which were the Black Bears stayed together and came up with the win. This win was the biggest win of the season for the Bears and they felt proud but they didn’t get cocky just had more confidence in themselves. The Black Bears finished the season with a record of 19-11 and the Eagles finished the season with a record of 15-16. The Bears went back to Orono, ME feeling great about the win and the Eagles were left back in Boston with anger and guilt by losing. People saw the results of the game on ESPN the day after the game and knew not to doubt the Black Bears anymore, they proved themselves the rest of the season until their conference tournament losing to the 6th seed New Hampshire which they beat 2 times already during the season. The Bears are more motivated and ready for next season to start with the America East Championship in mind and in reach.
Social networking plays a major role in society today because the internet is like the main resource for information these days. On the website Twitter, they have trending topics that people talk about, or "Tweet" about, and the word spreads fast with the use of social networking such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and other websites. I think Twitter and Facebook are the most used these days and are the most effective for spreading news because like I stated before people talk about it and not only do people have accounts for those sites, but companies and news programs such as CNN, FOX News, CBS, etc. have accounts so they keep people updated on what is going on. Those two websites have the ability to post as many messages as they want whenever they want so people know what is going on all the time with those websites. For example, I have a Twitter account and when Michael Jackson was in the hospital I knew before a lot of people knew because of Twitter. Michael Jackson finally passed and I knew the very second he passed away because of the communication with the people and news programs on Twitter. I feel that these are very helpful when such things go on in the world like earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, or other natural causes. I was on Twitter and read about the earthquakes that Haiti and Chile got and then I heard about it on the news. A lot of people have internet access on their phones so just about anybody has the ability to reach the internet and read about current events that are going on not only in the United States but in the world. People post things on Twitter and Facebook every second of the day and whether it's good or bad, people will know about it and if it is a big issue then it will be talked about a lot and everybody will know about what is going on. There are some negatives to having these sites though because people share too much information about themselves and make it easy for them to find. There was a video I saw online about a female that posted all of her information on Facebook her phone number, address, pictures, etc. and some guy tried to talk to her she then denied him. Since her information was online he was able to see her so he went to her house one night and killed her. That is the worse way to learn a lesson but that is definitely a negative about social networking.
